The Bragg Creek Robotics Club Senior Team competed in the Southern Alberta FLL Into Orbit event on March 2nd, 2019.
The Event had 4 areas of Judging:
Project Presentation: The Girls wanted to research and find solutions to “Space Trash”. They presented a live news cast and even did a sock puppet show to entertain the judges.
Core Values: This year the challenge was to move Energy balls from one side of the room to a table without making the balls light up. The rules were they could not move their position and had to work together to move the balls without touching them with their hands. They could only use the items that were available on a table. They had 5 minutes to strategize and finish the task. The girls used the stick props to balance the balls and pass them to each other as they were evenly spaced between the start and finish.
Robot Design: The Team talked to the judges on how they came up with their design and programming to accomplish the missions.
Robot Competition: This years theme was Into Orbit. The mission mat has many missions which the robot needs to accomplish autonomously. They have 3 rounds in which the highest score is used. There were 44 Teams in total this year. They worked great as a team and got a 3rd place finish this year.
The Team won the Award for: Strategy and Innovation
Way to GO TEAM!
