Bragg Creek Robotics and FLL ~ Our History
This page is to remember the eight seasons we participated in the FIRST Lego League Competitions.

Our Robotics Team was brought together in 2015 when a friend and FIRST Robotics Mentor, Craig, started the Redwood Meadows Robotics Club for children ages nine to fourteen in our community.  Coach Nick took an interest and volunteered alongside his daughter's team.  The following year Craig handed the team over to Nick, where he changed the name to Bragg Creek Robotics.  For five seasons (from 2015 to 2020) Bragg Creek Robotics had four inspiring coaches (Nick, Dave, Steve & Ashlynn with Amber assisting) to guide our teams in the, FIRST LEGO League Challenge Seasons; TRASH TREK, ANIMAL ALLIES, HYDRO DYNAMICS, INTO ORBIT and CITY SHAPER.  Coaches Nick and Ashlynn also taught a self designed play based, "Intro. to Robotics" for young children aged six to nine.  We took a break from team meetings in 2020 - 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic; only able to provide a few fun filled "design, build, program and game" style sessions for a limited cohort.  For the 2023 to 2024 FIRST FLL Challenge season, MASTERPIECE we had three coaches (Nick, Ashlynn, Evan and Amber assisting) and gathered a small team of five children.  The team grew to full capacity, in the 2024 to 2025  and 2025 to 2026 Seasons, SUBMERGED and UNEARTHED and the coaching team also changed a little with Head Coach Nick and Coach Evan leading the classes with Coach Amber assisting.

Bragg Creek Robotics has been blessed with the chance to lead a LEGO robotics team for the last decade.

At the end of the 2026 Unearthed Season FLL announced that the collaboration between FIRST and LEGO will be coming to an end after the 2026 - 2027 Season.  Lego also introduced a new Lego League of their own and a retirement of all former robots.  For these reasons, Bragg Creek Robotics has decided we will not continue with FLL or Lego League.

Starting September 2026, coaches Nick and Evan are ready to experience and lead the team in building something NEW; while still providing a small group STEM experience using Lego Mindstorms robots.  Amber will be stepping down from assisting.  Thank you to all the past members of our teams, parents, mentors/coaches, and volunteers that made our experience with FLL so wonderful.  We look forward to this new & exciting robotics adventure!

2025 - 2026

Unearthed
During the 2025 - 2026 UNEARTHED challenge, FIRST® LEGO® League teams will uncover the past to discover the future.

Every artifact we uncover holds a story. Each tool, each innovation, each work of art connects us to the people and ideas that came before us. Using STEM skills and teamwork, today we can dig deeper into discoveries than ever before.

2017 - 2018

Hydro Dynamics

We stepped into the familiar waters of, toilets flushing, taps running, precipitation, and fire fighting, we also explored some unfamiliar waters which we swam through excellently.  Along the way we learned how water affects our everyday life through amazing challenges that our robot completed.  Over all our group had a water-full time!

2016 - 2017

Animal Allies
In the past, people often thought about how animals could help us. Today, it’s time to think about how we can help each other. What might become possible when we work together with our ANIMAL ALLIES?

Trash Trek

We’re not talking trash – we’re cleaning it up!  From collection, to sorting, to smart production and reuse, there is more to your trash than meets the eye.

FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers.  During the TRASH TREK℠ season, teams will choose and solve a real-world trash problem in the Project.  They will also build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® technology to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game.  Throughout their experience, teams will operate under FLL’s signature set of Core Values, celebrating discovery, teamwork, and Gracious Professionalism®.

Bragg Creek Robotics team was awarded:
1.) Inspiration Award.
